A Casa no Largo

We stayed in the apartment the last week in December throught the first week of January and had a wonderful experience. The apartment was even better than the pictures showed. The size was perfect, and the internet worked great. The bed was extremely comfortable and the apartment felt roomie for 2 people. The apartment is very close to the metro station which makes getting around the city very easy. We had a great time and the apartment really made our stay in Lisbon very enjoyable. View apartment

I stayed at Casa Carmo with a group of 4 friends for a weekend. The apartment was exactly as described with more than enough space and facilities. It was spotlessly clean and more than enough linen for all. The owner makes booking so easy and was very accomodating with our checkin & late check out. I was impressed with the little espresso coffee maker- what an ingenious way to wake up in anticipation of a good cup of coffee. "Perfect Lisbon location!"

The apartment is exactly as pictured and is spotless. Wood floors and lots of light. It is very close to both the train station and two subway lines and the famous "Tram 28". Essentially, the heart of Lisbon. The neighborhood is vibrant, with good food, shops and activities close at hand. We had four perfect nights there. A nice neat and compact apartment very conveniently situated...tucked away in a nice quiet corner of old town Cascais yet only 5 mins walk away from town centre...and 10 mins walk from the marina...charming cantina located in the fishermen's association just a few steps away that serves fantastic simple but fantastically fresh grilled fish...the owner may not be the most cheery guy but he gives quiet efficient service and he is serious about his fish...the apartment is cosy and contains almost everything you will need...only drawback is the lack of internet access...but that is only a minor inconvenience... Sintra - Eugaria

"A fantastic place in all respect"

A wonderful, dream place (little castle) to stay. We were absolutely taken by happy surprise - the photos don't match the full beauty of the place. Located in a small village in on the hillside overlooking the lush green Sierra Sintra and also the atlantic Ocean. The house is exactly what we would want to arrange for our self. Little corners to retreat and hide, read, paint or just enjoy the view. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the wonderful landscape - breath taking and relaxing. Everything you need in a rental home and more. The welcome by Pedro (owner) and the abundance on advise received were brilliant. There are so many things to do and see that a week was not enough because the house is so nice you don’t feel the need to leave it. And departing was hard - very hard - but we had to as every trip has an end. We stayed in Sintra/Lisboa for 1 week. Wanted a quiet place to stay with easy access to all sights (loads of heritage site even in hiking distance) and the beaches. I never realized how convenient it was to get to the beaches. Also the historical tramway from Sintra takes you from Colares straight to the Ocean. It is worth while reading some history on Portugal because when staying here you can just feel those historic events that happened around Sintra/Lisboa. But you do need a car to be able to stay here - and enjoying the Portuguese way of driving helps a lot and is quite fun - not for the passengers possibly unless they principally enjoy roles coaster rides. Take our word - it is a wonderful place to stay - even though we expect Portugal to be a once travel destination before coming to Portugal - now we are sure it is one of our favorites and definitely worth while coming here on multiple occasions. And the Portuguese people are so friendly.

"Lovely house in beautiful surroundings"

We had a lovely stay in Eugaria. The house is charming, comfortable, clean and well equipped. It is set in beautiful surroundings and there is a great view from the terrace. The owners are friendly and helpful. The house is located in a quiet village but everything is within easy reach - only a short drive to local beaches and villages. The town of Sintra has impressive castles, parks, nice cafées and restaurants. We would happily recommend this place and plan to go back! View apartment

"Some Good Memories..."

The apartment was simply amazing; clean, cozy and with access to some stuff you don't expect in a rental like wireless internet, dishwasher or luxury audio system (with a lot of great cds!). To be absolutely honest, there is nothing to complain about. We were handled in the frendliest way possible, before and during our stay. WtS did us all the favors we asked for and tried to make our stay more and more comfortable. If you doubt you should make use of their offer, I can just say there is nothing to worry about or be afraid of! We brought some good experience and memories back home and if we will one day decide to get back to Lisbon first thing I will do is to mail WtS just to let them know we want them to organize our stay!

We liked it very much. It is pretty close to the beach, clean, nicely furnished and the owner really likeable. We enjoyed very much our dinners on the balcony viewing the ocean. The only "but" could be that there is no shop or cafeteria very close, you can not just drop down and up again. Nous avons fait un agréable séjour dans ce bel appartement. La vue est vraiment magnifique et c'est un bel espace. Nous avons eu un temps délicieux, quelle chance. Merci de nous avoir ouvert la chambre d'enfant, c'était important qu'il soit au calme. J'aurais quelques remarques sur le confort (nous avons un appartement à la montagne... et je sais ce qui est demandé):
1. nous ne savions pas s'il fallait donner à manger à la tortue... notre fils s'est fait un plaisir de lui donner à manger chaque matin! J'espère que ce n'était pas trop! Peut-être vaut-il mieux laisser des instructions. nous avons utilisé plusieurs sachets de thé, nous aurions aimé les remplacer mais impossible de trouver une grande épicerie avec du bon thé, des jus de fruits frais, ni un grand choix de yaourts : peut-être ce serait bien de donner quelques adresses de magasins accessibles dans le centre. Les épiceries étaient vraiment minuscules et n'offraient pas beaucoup de choix.
Les restaurants sont tellement bons que nous avons toujours pris nos repas dehors!

The apartment is very well located, in a very animated and Lisbon true Alfama district, within the Castello walls.
In the morning you can enjoy observing daily life of the real Lisboniers as well as have an easy access to main Lisbon attractions. Not to mention the famous tram 28 is just around the corner.

Apartment is very well equipped - we used to have a breakfast and sometimes lunch there, so you can cook without any problems. Comfortable, nicely decorated and well managed by the owners.

Be prepared for some up and down walking if you prefer walking and not using the tram/bus, yet the area is worth exploring.

The flat was in a great location close to the castle and to the center of the city where all the sights are and transport links are. The flat was very charming had all the amenities one would need, kitchen, TV (with english channels), internet, linens etc. The shower was a bit small and the beds a bit hard but after a long day sight seeing it didn't matter at all. The apartment is very central, located just a short 5mn walk from Rossio and the historic centre of Lisbon. And although it's a short walk, it's a steep one as you have to climb the steps up towards the Castelo de S. Jorge in order to reach the apartment. So although it may not be suitable if you have infants or small children (or can't handle the climb), what you do get when you reach it is a great view of Lisbon from the living room and front-facing bedroom windows, across the bridge and out to the ocean. The apartment is on the 1st floor of an old building and has 2 decent sized bedrooms, each with a double bed. The kitchen, bathroom and amenities are all quite satisfactory but the flat is quite basic with a bit of a student feel to it, so if you're looking for luxury and beautiful decoration look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for a good-value, central, relatively comfortable base to explore Lisbon from and you are not afraid of the climb then this could be perfect. You wouldn't want to spend your days in the flat and it doesn't really lend itself to lounging around in but if it's just a place to sleep and maybe prepare a meal before you head out then this is a good option in a nice, quiet area of town.

We loved our stay here, the apartment felt very safe and had everything you need. The owner was helpful and informative. Location - excellent - walking distance to all major attractions and main streets. We really enjoyed ourselves and loved the apartment. Upstairs neighbours a bit noisy late at night but only moving around, no parties etc.. we are just not used to noise. Parking tricky but owner showed us a free park (make sure you know the rules as one day about 10 cars got wheel clamped). Otherwise a paid underground park is within walking distance. We had a great time in Lisbon.
We loved the little apartment. It was the perfect size and had lots of light. The location is great. I loved seeing the peacocks from the window.
The only issues we had was that the shower curtain wasn't very good so some water would leak out. Also there was building work going on next door which was quite noisy early in the morning. Without this work the location was very quiet. It was nice at night that there was no noise at all.

Thanks again for everything. I would definitely recommend this flat and your firm to my family and friends.

My husband and I spent New Year's Eve and some days in January in Lisboa. We found the city fascinating and the festivities really spectacular. The choice of this apartment turned out to be really good. The apartment is quiet, because located between the Castle gardens and a narrow nice street in the walls of the Castle. From the apartment you can walk to the highlights of the city or take both a bus or a tram to go downtown and reach different areas of the city. Near the apartment good restaurants, caf?s and shops. "The best location in Lisbon"

We've been many times in Lisbon; some of them in places with a good location. But this one, definitively, exceeds the others. It is perfect adapted to travel with children (it has elevator, that is not a small thing considering how are the rest of the stairs of the others apartments we?ve been before). By the other hand, the price is overestimated considering that is not the most confortable and cleanest apartment. For us, it was OK, because we didn't spend much time there, so we could walk arround and just come back "home" to rest.

We felt we got more for our money from this rental than we would have had at a hotel in Chiado, this neighborhood, at the same price. this way we had two room, a washer and drier and a kitchen. "wonderful apartment"

This is a fabulous apartment, better than home from home. It was spacious, clean, beautifully appointed in a way that made us feel at home immediately - it's not an impersonal empty flat but a delightfully furnished home, full of charming detail but with modern equipment. The owner met us and showed us round in person, and returned to collect the keys afterwards. It is located right near the shore, very close to a metro station and abundant trams, and conveniently on the edge of the main city areas - i.e. extremely convenient but not too noisy. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there and would stay again given half a chance. Incidentally, wifi was included for free. And for information, there is no lift, so you need to be able to manage stairs. if you can, it's worth it!View apartment

The apartment was extremely clean, well furnished and well equipped. My boyfriend and I decided to stay in Estoril as opposed to Cascais since it was so near yet seemed a little quieter. The flat had a great view of the sea. 5 mins to a nice beach, a deli, the casino and the train station which was good and bad since there were rumbles in the flat when a train went by. This apartment is a short walk to the beach, restaurants, casino and public transport. It was very clean and easy to live in. We enjoyed being able to sit on the balcony for breakfast and a glass of wine in the evening. Lots of good places to eat nearby. The most beautiful apartment in Europe

The most beautiful place in Portugal in the heart of national park on the territory golf club. Really 5 stars and fully equipped apartments where you will find everything you need. On the territory of golf club you will find 3 restaurants. Close to the supermarket. 5 minutes from Sintra and 10 minutes from the best beach of Portugal by car. 20 minutes from Lisbon. A very friendly owner of the apartment Jose Graca. He assisted us from the arrival in the airport and during all the period of visit.

"Fantastic stay in Estoril"
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights with our baby daughter. The apartment was great, spacious, clean and well equipped. The location was fantastic, just a couple of minutes from both the beach and the train station.Both check in and check out were made easy for us and we were given every assistance to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We had a great time and I would highly recommend this apartment. Just one small detail to be aware of- the apartment is on the second floor and there is no lift.

Amazingly kind owner! He provided everything one could need during vacation. The apartment is clean, comfortable, colorful and has an extraordinary view on the bridge, river, monument of Christ and of course, the city. Located at the very feet of St. George's castle, gives you an excellent opportunity to visit the castle without much walking ;) We enjoyed pretty much everything - the apartment, its location, and of course, the city. Our stay at Casa Branca was fabulous. The apartment owner was very nice picking us up from the airport and giving us a wonderful tour of Lisbon before heading up to the apartment. The apartment is modernly furnished and is located a couple blocks to the Metro station which gives you access to the entire city. Casa Branca puts you in the heart of a Lisbon neighborhood where you can experience Portugal up close definitely a great time.

It is a very nice and charming apartment right in the center in walking distance to every interesting area in lisboa. Seven minutes walk to the bario alt, twenty minutes to alfama. The street is especially pretty because the famous bica elevator takes you up and down the bairo alto. The apartment owner was very friendly and flexible with our arrival and departure times. The little kitchen had everything you need to cook yourself a little snack during "siesta", the supermarket is right around the corner. It is great to relax on the fabulous balcony during the day!
The bathroom is very small- the shower is tiny. I did not mind much, but for a big or tall person it can be a challenge.

The only real downside I have to say is the noise at night. There are a couple of (nice!) bars a few meters away and dozens of people sit on the street all night long chatting. If you are a sensitive sleeper and especially in the summer when you want to have the windows open, it is extremly loud. You need earplugs!

Besides that: A very charming little place perfectly located in lisboa.

"Simple apartment with good view"

First the good points - a good position with excellent view of Lisbon. Also was in a quiet street, so no traffic noise. And it had a clean bathroom. even though the bath was curious, no bath plug and too big to fill! Now the bad points - getting into the apartment, the outside lock was antiquated and sometimes took us 15 minutes to unlock the door. The kitchen was dark, gloomy and a bit smelly - no dishwasher, but it did have a good fridge. But the worst thing was an outbreak of flying ants that appeared in waves from a crack in the living room. We liked the position, but the approach, on the side of the castle had steep streets and hundreds of steps - only for fit people! J.C.E.View apartment

The apartment could not be in a more convenient area, however I agrre with Mark, on another page, that showering was a problem. Of all my travels, Lisbon and Portugal, has been my favorite. A charming apartment in a neighbourhood with a lot of character. Great balconies -- a little small to sit on but you can see the river. Helpful and friendly owner who told us all about the things to do near the apartment and further afield. The bathroom is a little small and cramped. The kitchens seemed well equipped but we didn't use it -- too many restaurants to try in Lisbon. A great base for exploring Lisbon and a comfortable place to come home to afterwards!View apartment

A wonderful place for us to settle mid-way through our journey. The apartment is great! A fantasticc space. Location is just amazing. the rubbish collectors keep us entertained for hours - banging the bins down the stairs to carrying them back again. Lisbon has entertained us for many hours and we wish we could stay longer.

Great market selling fresh fish and vege nearby, as was a chemist, bank, shops and a great cake shop just downstairs. Do you know when you go somewhere and you just want that perfect place that blends in with everything else? Well, this is the place. Ideal for hassle free holidays, where you can most of all enjoy Lisbon and its beautiful narrow streets, by knowing you have the comfort of a charming and spotless place waiting for you every day.

About the place I have only the best to say. Super tidy and clean, spacious, with an impressive view on the castle and in one of the best locations in Lisbon - Chiado. Surprisingly, this flat is on a very quiet street, away from the hussle of Friday night partiers, where you can always enjoy a splendid evening or night sleep. From this place you can basically walk everywhere downtown - from the castle sloaps to the narrow streets of bairro alto.

I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Lisbon for a special, relaxed and perfect holiday. View apartment

We had a wonderful stay(...). 3 of us stayed at the apartment for 3 days in August. The apartment is fully equipped and offers a wonderful view, great light and is within walking distance of the best neighborhoods - restaurants and bars in Bairro Alto and lovely shops and cafes in Chiado. Despite being very centrally located, the street that the apartment is on is very quiet. The #28 tram runs nearby to take you to Castelo and Alfama. Highly recommended! (NY)View apartment

This was the best experience I've ever had with booking an appartment! I will definitely recommend Praça das Flores to everyone. If you want to explore Lisbon from a top central location and come home to a wonderful appartment with all the comfort you can whish for, go for this one! Enjoy a glass of wine on the roof terrace with a beautiful view on the city. The owners are super friendly and helpful. All the info there is to know about lisbon is in the appartment. El piso está localizado en una de las mejores zonas de la ciudad. tienes casas de comidas y tiendecitas muy cerca lo cual te facilita bastante la vida. Por la noche hay un ambiente fenomenal en todo el barrio.Tambien muy bien comunicado por su estación de tren que está a dos minutos y lo cual te abre un abanico de posibilidades enorme. Our stay in Casa Do Castelo was wonderful. The apartment is simply beautiful and comforted us perfectly as we rested after long lunches and late dinners. Walking home every night we always found our way as the castle stood lit up on top of the hill. Surrounded by windy streets and friendly neighbors who made our experience both authentic and delightful. I could have spent many more days gazing out the window onto the seamless ocean. But nevertheless I will return to Lisbon soon to relive all the things I enjoyed.

LA casa esta en el centro del Chiado, Sta. Justa a 2 minutos, Plaza de Rossio a 5, cerveceria trindade a 200 mts...etc.
La casa está totalmente equipada, decorada con gusto, muy, muy limpia y acogedora, con unas vistas del Castillo de San Jorge maravillosas.Desde luego si vuelvo a Lisboa lo haré en esta casa donde nos hemos sentido "como en casa". Gracias Madalena por hacernos la estancia tan cómoda.
El transporte publico es estupendo, por lo que recomiendo a la gente que no vaya en coche ya que el aparcamiento es imposible en la calle y los parkings son excesivamente caros (35 €/dia). El parking más barato en Marques de Pombal (12€/dia)

This is really a wonderful apartment. It is an ideal location - walking distance to everywhere - located in the old part of the city and ideal for anyone staying a few days in Lisbon. The apartment itself is an experience. It is clean, big, quaint, modern, comforable and a mix of old and new. It is decorated to a very unique style that lends it to been full of character. All facilites, comforable beds, lovely neighbours and very clean with high quality linen,towels and caters for all your needs. I would highly recommend anyone to stay there - families and couples. Initially I was planning to stay for a shorter duration in Cascais but I ended up staying almost months as a whole bcause the city was so beautiful & the apartment was really in the center of all the attractions. Its just 2 mins walk from the beautiful Cascais beach. One can get bicycles for free from the train station (which is just 1 min walk away) & go to Guincho which is a famous tourist beach. The ed of Europe (Europs west most point) Cabo de Roca s also about 13 Kms away. The famous city of Sintra is just 12 Kms from Cascais. So, I was feeling myself to be in the center of all the tourist attractions of Portugal. I enjoyed my stay a lot & would recommend this apartment for tourists.

The apartment "A casa do Castelo" is a lovely place to spend a week in Lisbon. Perfect for a couple.
Believe it or not you will wake every morning with peacocks showing their colorful feathers next to your windows.
We think these are a family of peacocks living in the castle courtyard.
A charming and quiet place overlooking Lisbon. From one of the windows you can also see the Tejo.
Great care from the Wheretostay staff making sure everything was all right.
Highly recommended.

4 of us stayed in this apartment in January - the apartment was great. Right in the very heart of the centre - we walked everywhere (and well worth talking the traditional yellowtrams - great fun). At night its great as there are many restaurants nearby and the Bairro Alto area is right next to the house - with great bars and restaurants.

The house is a 1 bedroom - but the hall and living room are spacious and the house was more than big enough for four adults. the kitchen was a great place for us were we had breakfast. The best part of the house is the view from the living room and the fact that the it gets a lot of sunlight. For people from Northern Europe this was a great change from the grey skies of Holland.

A nice extra to the house was that the internet was included - and the TV had cable with loads of foreign channels.

I would definitely recommend this house for couples or groups of adults.

It was perfect! Getting in touch with the 'real thing'. Time travel a little in Lisbon and mingle with the locals. From the instant you enter the house you already are living in Lisbon and feeling at home. Lovely and confortable. To go explore the city: just step out! Everything is walking distance. Metro is 2m but you won't need it... The castle, the sights, the shops and the bars. This is the spot to stay!

My son and I stayed in this cozy, historical apartment during the 2007 Christmas holidays. The central location was perfect for exploring the city..close to the metro, trams, and town center. There are many restaurants and stores in the area and it's a very colourful area. Although it's a small apartment, it's perfect for 3 people. Marisa met us at the apartment, handed over the keys and even provided a terrific bottle of wine! Quite a lovely gesture. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it!
